Allergy and asthma control begins at home. Many people with allergies stay indoors when pollen and mold is high. But dust mites, pet dander and even cockroaches can cause allergic reactions and respiratory disease in sensitive people in residential settings. 


  • More than 2.4 million (8.4%) Canadians aged 12 years and over were living with asthma (9.8% of females and 7.0% of males).
  • Itchy watery eyes, a running nose, and constant sneezing (among other obnoxious symptoms) can be severe and debilitating, causing folks to experience day to day tasks as difficult and unenjoyable
  • Studies suggest that susceptibility to childhood asthma is determined during fetal development and in the first three to five years of life. A number of possible risk factors have been suggested for the development of asthma including a high exposure to airborne allergens (pets, house dust mites, cockroaches, mold) in the first years of life.
